Fun atmosphere with toy dinasoars in windows. Each table has it's own character. Large menu and daily specials . My eggs were done just the way I like them. Calif. scramble "just the right size". Blueberry pancakes full of blueberries ! Welcoming and friendly waitress. Prices standard. Bathroom clean. Great find for our breakfast!

I dig decorating with dinosaurs and elephants in an establishment that seems like it's been here forever. It says funny/whimsical and besides I decorate that way myself so I totally get it. I also love these types of places because their history just shows in many different ways, whether it's their plateware or their old signs, to their tablecloths. It's melancholy, but it's a time period that you get to visit because it's still sitting out there for you to see. I like seeing local folks in their 80s sitting there and enjoying themselves playing cards and jiving each other. What I don't like, or get, is food that's not up to par.. that's NOT like it used to be. I mean come on, if you don't want to do homemade hollandaise well dang it all don't put it on the menu! But, certainly don't try and fool tourists because - they can see through powdered mix.. Why can't you be yourselves??? Stick to what you know like big hotcakes and big biscuits with real sausage gravy.. that kind of thing! It could have been a BINGO if only your menu showed it right! I did dig the homemade bloody mary though! That's a spicy hit and to have a choice between bacon and pepper.. never thought of a bloody mary with bacon but I could see how that might work out for you.

A family tradition every year when we camp along the Mckenzie River! Delicious everything, especially the Chicken Fried Steak, biscuits and gravy!! Friendly service and fun atmosphere. My children love the dinosaurs and the family friendly environment where they can let loose a little without the parents being worried about the judging glares of other patrons... because, if you come to a restaurant with toys at every table you know to expect the joyful noise of children having fun!

There are only two choices for restaurants if you are staying in this area and having had a decent dining experience at the other restaurant I was hopeful to have the same experience at the Rustic Skillet. Maybe it was because we were there 45 minutes before closing (closes on Fridays at 2pm), or maybe it was because we were only one of two tables and the waitress was ready to go home. The service was super slow, the food mediocre (burgers and chef salad) and the waitress dropping swear words left and right while conversing with the chef about local gossip within earshot of my 8 year old guarantees we won't be back.

Rainbow Oregon isn't a big place, so you can sample all of the places to eat over a long weekend - which is what we did. We'd spent the morning hiking along the McKinzie river, and were hungry for lunch. The place was empty, so we took a seat by a window decorated with plastic dinosaurs - all of the tables and windows were covered with plastic dinosaurs. They had a huge whiteboard of specials, so I ordered the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, fruit, and potatoes. The order arrived smothered in what looked like hollandaise sauce made from a mix - maybe Knorr or Schillings. All I tasted was salt - a lot of salt. The fruit was that tasteless preprocessed stuff you can buy in a tub, and the potatoes were simply missing. I ask about the potatoes and was told, despite objective evidence to the contrary written on the specials board, that they didn't come with my entrée, but did I want to order a side of potatoes? - I didn't. During our meal, the place filled with pinochle playing octogenarians.

After a night at the shitty resort known as Bilknap Hot Springs, we wanted to leave early as possible and pick up some breakfast. The resort had a menu of a few restaurants near by so we went with the Rustic Skillet. The restaurant looked pretty promising, just a regular classic looking diner inside and out. First of all let me say, the waitress was helpful and attentive but the food was shitty as can be. At least what I ordered was. I had the corn beef hash special. corned beef hash on a bed of crispy hashbrown, 3 eggs over medium with a biscuit. Sounds delicious huh? It tasted exactly the way it looked. GROSS. My friend said it looked so disgusting he wouldn't even feed that shit to his dog. Corned beef looked like it was straight from the can. The yolk in the eggs over cooked. Biscuit less than average, the Pillsbury dough boy could have done a better job. The wifey ordered the french toast and it was just as poopy. The menu said it was Texas Toast size, that certain was not the case. 1 star for the food, 1 star for solid service. Skip this place and drive to Springfield or Eugene and grab something worth your money and time.

3 stars food 4 stars atmosphere & friendliness 5 stars for kid friendly with LOTS of dinosaurs to play with! Rustic Country Inn is a sweet little restaurant open for breakfast and lunch. It has the charm of an old fashioned Americana styled Route 66 cafe. If you have kids, they are going to LOVE this place for all the toy DINOSAURS you see everywhere. Of course they're not just to look at either! You're server, who is quite possibly the super friendly owner, will encourage it. The food is "good", not awesome, but not disappointing either. I had a tasty meat lovers omlet, with a side of very good (tasty) sausage gravy. It might have been a bit creamer, but rarely have I found places in Oregon that master the taste factor. Kathy had the French Dip with Salad, plus Thousand. It was average. Rustic also has a really nice outdoor dining patio. All in all, I will come back, and hopefully next time bring my 3 grandsons!

Today's special, the banana nut bread french toast was amazing! You could really taste that the banana bread was homemade. The slices were huggggee but it was well worth this treat. I loved the cute diner vibe. Coffee was also good and my husband liked his biscuits and gravy. This French toast was very memorable and one of my favorite French toasts to date!

Review for the pies only...their pies are overpriced and wort EVERY PENNY. Anything with berries is insanely good, and their crust should be it's own food group. Call ahead for availability and pick up a whole pie to go

So I give 5 stars for the staff. The cook/chef is a cool nice fella. Told me of many local spots and gave me a wealth of knowledge on the state of Oregon and its landscape. The server gave me a cool back note on the local community and both had a great personality. I understand and can appreciate a place like Blue River. So as a road tripper. I appreciate them filling me in a little. Especially if they don't want to. Its like their own secret. I wouldn't want to share. Now for the food. It was horrible. Steak that seemed to be frozen for who knows how long and very dull taste. Gravy that taste like it was from a "mix it yourself' packet. homemade mashed potatoes that must have been refrigerated all day. A few hours later had farts that would peel the bark off a tree. I would condense the menu. Focus on fresher foods and season properly. Not sure how doable that is for a business like this. The supply and demand is not that of a large population.
